The Dream Of Life Alan Watts

Music plays Alan Watts If you awaken from this illusion and you understand that black implies white self implies other life implies death or shall I say death implies life you can feel yourself. Not as a stranger in the world. Not as something here on probation. Not as something that has arrived here by fluke. But you can begin to feel your own existence as absolutely fundamental. music plays I'm not trying to sell you on this idea in the sense of converting you to it. I want you to play with it.

I want you to think of its possiblities. I'm not trying to prove it I'm just putting it forward as a possibility of life to think about So then. Let's suppose that you were able every night, to dream any dream you wanted to dream. And that you could for example have the power within one night to dream seventy five years of time. Or any length of time you wanted to have. And you would naturally, as you began on this adventure of dreams, you would fulfill all your wishes.

You would have every kind of pleasure. And after several nights of seventy five years of total pleasure each, you would say Well that was pretty great! But now let's let's have a surprise. Let's have a dream which isn't under control. Where something is going to happen to me but I don't what it's going to be. music plays And you would dig that And come out of that you'd say Wow that was a close shave wasn't it Then you would get more and more adventurous and you would make further and further gambles.

To what you would dream. Finally you would dream where you are now. You would dream the dream of living the life that you are actually living today. That would be within the infinite multiplicity of choices that you would have. Of playing that you weren't God. Because the whole nature of the God in you according to this idea, is to play that he's not. So in this idea then, everybody is fundamentally the ultimate reality, not God in a politically kingly sense, but God in the sense of being the self.

Lost In Translation Review JPMN

The second film in director Sophia Coppola's, perhaps nepotistic career, this deliberately slowpaced 102 minute drama was released in October of 2003, and was a surprise hit earning four Oscarnominations, and over $110 million in profit. The AcademyAward winning screenplay follows Murray as an aging movie star who travels to Tokyo for a week to film a commercial, but in the midst of a midlife crisis, he forms an unlikely bond with Scarlett Johansson, a young college graduate visiting Japan with her husband. Much like a fine wine, Murray's talent and delivery have only gotten better with time, his nuanced performance is poignant,.

Relatable, and amusing scoring him a Best Actor nomination, the only in his long career. Holding more than her own opposite, the 19yearold starlet is distractingly beautiful at times. but its her subtle performance, exuding loneliness mixed with a tinge of hope that truly anchors this picture's emotional center. Despite their massive agedifference, two have remarkably undeniable chemistry. Anna Farris's trademark ditzyblonde persona appears briefly, and who else but Hollywood jackofalltrades, Giovanni Ribisi makes a convincing turn as Johansson's distracted husband. Artistically shot with static, and drawnout shots, the entire narrative is driven only by digetic sound with inworld karaoke and lounge singers.

Providing some onthenose emotional cues. The romance at this film's center is doomed from the start, but how it unfolds is fascinating to watch. The Rrated picture certainly isn't for younger viewers but the adult themes of unhappiness, infidelity, cultureshock, and unrequited love will certainly resonate with all of those who have questioned their place in life at one time or another. Finally stepping out of her father, Francis Ford Coppola's shadow, Sophia expertly captures those quintessential human moments, when little besides a glance or a smile is shared. You know those late nights we've all had, talking about the meaning.

Of life with our best friends until four in the morning This entire picture sort of captures that essence and emotion perfectly. Which is a commendable and intriguing accomplishment on its own right, but very little actually drives this plot. Balancing the absurdity of life with some potential hopelessness, this picture bounces from laughoutloud moments to thoughtprovoking developments effortlessly. Unquestionably though, it feels like a student arthouse film dialogue heavy, slow, and thanks to an overtly ambiguous ending, not much actually happens, either leaving you little reason to watch this again any time.

Soon. That being said this is an excellent character study, with a resoundingly compassionate romance story that's brimming with atmosphere and originality. Lost In Translation , Brilliant performances, tragically beautiful story. Now lets read your comment reviews from the YouTube comments. Lost In Translation. a double SEVEN. Some incredibly varied opinions on this, some were blown away by the acting, and relatable lovestory, while others found the picture to be pretentious and boring, your ratings averaged to a COOL. There's certainly plenty to enjoy in this picture, and I definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for a quiet, unexciting.

Ishi, not Baali

This is Hosea 21625, the reconciliation Assuredly, I will speak coaxingly to her And lead her through the wilderness And speak to her tenderly. I will give her her vineyards from there And the Valley of Achor as a plowland of hope. There she shall respond as in the days of her youth, When she came up from the land of Egypt. So the period of the Exodus and wandering is romantically imagined as, this time, of a very good and close relationship between God and Israel. And in that day you will call me Ishi and no more will you call me Baali..

This is a pun. Both of these words can mean my husband. Ishi is my man, a male. And Baali is my Lord. Women would have used both for their husbands. But Baal, obviously, has connotations with the god Baal. So instead of calling me Baali, my Baal, you will call me Ishi, my husband using a word that's free of Baal connotations. For I will remove the names of the Baalim from her mouth, And they shall nevermore be mentioned by name. In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds of.

The air, and the creeping things of the ground I will banish bow, sword, and war from the land. Thus I will let them lie down in safety. And I will espouse you forever back to the marriage metaphor. I will espouse you with righteousness and justice, And with goodness and mercy, And I will espouse you with faithfulness Then you shall be devoted to the Lord. In that day, I will respond declares the Lord I will respond to the sky, And it shall respond to the earth And the earth shall respond.

With new grain and wine and oil, And they shall respond to Jezreel. the first of the children. I will sow her in the land as My own Jezreel was a fertile valley not just a place of war and death. And I will take Loruhamah not loved back in favor And I will say to Loammi, not my people, You are my people And he will respond, You are my God. So Hosea isn't unrelievedly gloomy and grim. It does provide these images, these very stirring images of hope and consolation and reconciliation. Amos also held out hope in the form of a remnant.

That would survive the inevitable destruction. So we need to think about the two traditions that prophets like Amos and Hosea are drawing on in this combined message of doom on the one hand, and hope on the other. Really, what the prophets are doing is drawing on two conceptions of covenant the two conceptions that we saw in our study of the Pentateuchal material and on into Samuel. On the one hand they recognize the unconditional and eternal, irrevocable covenant that God established with the patriarchs as well as the eternal.

Covenant with David, with the House of David. Those covenants were the basis for the belief that God would never forsake his people. But on the other hand, of course, they place emphasis on the covenant at Sinai. It's a conditional covenant. It requires the people's obedience to moral, religious and civil laws in the covenant code. And it threatens punishment for their violation. So the prophets are playing with both of these themes. Israel has violated the Sinaitic Covenant and the curses that are stipulated by the covenant must follow.

The Sperm Struggle is Real

Sperms aren't the mindless, flagellumwielding, dolts you thought they were. They are wily little devils with war on their nuclei. Music Hey dudes, Trace here with the lowdown on your sperms' struggles for DNews. Sperm are the male gamete, the counterpart to the female's egg. When a sperm reaches the inside of an egg, a zygote is created the first step on the path to a fetus. But to reach that goal, a sperm have to overcome a lot of different problems one being there are millions of other sperm. They're like, WATCH OUT DUDE. Imma tryin' to get to the egg!.

For instance, we've evolved what science calls sperm allocation. As the point of sex is to get your sperm to the egg first and thus spread your genes, sperm allocation was one of nature's ways of getting the most bang for your. buck. IF a male believes his female sexual partner has committed infidelity, or if he's simply spent a long while away from the partner, his sperm count will increase when they pair up! The authors of a study published in Current Directions in Psychological Science believe this is why males get lustful feelings after.

Being away from their partner they want to make sure they can get as much sperm in there as possible to compete. Once inside the woman, sperm continue the struggle. This has to do with that creation sperm are formed based on HOW the species fertilize AND how much sexual competition is present. It was assumed that the bigger the sperm, the faster they are. Bigger and stronger is better Right Wrong. A study published in the journal Evolution uses Bonobos as an example. These apes share almost 99percent of their DNA with humans and have a lot of.

Sex with lots of partners. The competition has evolved sperm with bigger head and a smaller tails. The larger sperm were actually SLOWER. The researchers found only animals who fertilize OUTSIDE of their bodies have a large sperm advantage. The shorter head and longer tail of fish and squid sperm were super fast and thus got to the egg first. Yah bro! Then there's the theory that there are two kinds of sperm the goal scorers, and the ones who play defense. Of the 250 million sperm cells released into the female reproductive.

System, 27percent are defective, right off the bat. The normally ovalshaped head is spherical or quite pointy in parts, the tails are malformed or whatever. This theory of so called kamikaze sperm also comes back to competition between mates. The idea is that these malformed sperm hang back to block those from competing mates, thus ensuring the first male's DOMINATION OF FERTILIZATION!!! Since the hypothesis was proposed in the 80s, scientists have tried and failed to reproduce their findings, so while we're pretty sure this isn't real, it's still being tested.

Most scientists now believe the 27percent defect rate occurs because of poor quality control in sperm creation. Which. is a little embarrassing. Dudes, this is our big moment and we're halfassing it out there! 110percent, c'mon! Of the millions of sperms released, remember you were the fastest. So tell us your strategies in the big empty white box below and subscribe! Also, double check you're still following us on Twitter AtDNews. We made some changes.
